When I think of peace I think of our world and the children and the poverty amongst us. I think about heroes all over the world, leaders and politicians who every day to try and make this world a better place to live in. The war and deaths that we hear about everyday make me wonder why our world is not able to get along or what people cannot understand about each to make them hate each other.
People that I think of that have shown an attempt to help educate the world in peace are people like president Obama and television legend Oprah. President Barack Obama being of a different race went against the odds in the United States Presidential election and not only took office but showed the world that change was possible and gave hope that people in our country may embrace and accept others for who they are and their beliefs.
Oprah demonstrates acts of kindness and the want for a better world with many acts of kindness she does herself. I remember seeing her in one of her episodes with Barbra Walters and how she talked about how she never wants to be married or have children because she believes she was put on earth not to have a family but to do everything in her power to make the world a better place. I remember her saying how she goes to different places in Africa every year to helps families and kids in need of basic essentials and even gave her thoughts on a school she wanted built for the children (Not sure if it’s been built already).
What it all comes down to is that in order to achieve peace we must learn to accept change in our selves and in the world around us. We must learn to be humble, as my dad always told me “to never be selfish and give what you can because in end when it’s your time to pass u take nothing with you”, it all stays here on earth. So why not utilize all the potential leaders and booming minds of the next generations and use them to make a better world to live in.
I think that we do have to be willing to change both ourselves and the world in order to achieve any kind of long-lasting peace. Quite often we are the one's who have all the power to stop conflict in its tracks yet we let our own petty feelings get in the way.
ReplyDeleteWhen you mentioned about the heroes out there fighting for peace made me think about the soldiers out there, because I have family and a boyfriend that are soldiers and are out there fighting for our freedom. And if we didn't have so many problems around the world and had peace so many people wouldn't have to worry about their loved ones whenever they get deployed to a place where there is war.
ReplyDeleteFirst... Very cool effect with the font and type colors, it makes it look 3D, crazy. Anyway... I think what Oprah does is great, because she reaches people minds and makes them aware of the problems that abound in other countries, also she works with those countries and helps them directly and not just giving away free money, and I don't mean to the audience of the show, but to the African countries and other Nations in poverty since that wouldn't be a good way to deal with peace or to create an important impact, which most stars, artists and rich people do. I do praise such actions as building schools or teaching the people professions that might lead to a better life. The real value comes when you go to the villages and meet the people listen their needs and teach them ways to satisfy them.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to Obama I think he is trying to do the right thing and create strong relationships between nations that might lead to a peaceful state, only that republicans are not supporting him and his getting too much negative exposure, add to that the fact that nations won't just cooperate to establish common ground for peace talks, let it be North Korea or Israel; if there is no will on the other parts end, then we won't be able to reach peace.
I agree with your opinion of people that you think are a good example of peacemakers. Its a really good thing to give; meaning to make a difference in the world. Building schools, promoting peace around the world by traveling to Africa and other countries goes to show others that helping and attempting at a very young age to help others can change others way of living AND our life. :)
ReplyDeleteI like what you think of when you hear the word peace. The heros and leaders that we have who are trying to make the world a better place for all people to live in. And it's true. They are trying to make peace through out the world and unfortunately it is taking a lot of war and violence for us to try to achieve it.
